My Dad found a small 10″ stell (or aluminium?) record in my late Gran’s house. We think that it’s the last recording that my Grandad sent her from the States. The problem is that it says on the sleeve that it needs to use a wooden needle and be played at 78 rpm. I’m researching how I can go about getting the audio from this disc and I decided that it would be easiest to collect all my research information here. So below is a collection of links that I found useful.
I wil also be outlining how I went about extracting the audio from the disc (if I manage it at all!)

Wow, I’m stumbling upon a lot of cool sites today. This site is particularly good as it lists freeware programs for almost all computer related task. One that I’ve never heard of before and that I reckon I will use in the future is the Access to MySQL converter.
Great, looks like there’s going to be a nice and easy way for me to edit my home movies now!

I was looking for some software that would allow me to set up a webcam in a pub that my friend owns. He wanted a way to show the webcam on his site so that potential visitors or patrons could log on and view the shenanigans that were going on in the bar.
Yawcam is exactly what I needed as it can upload files to FTP, HTTP, Stream and many more. Definitely worth a look if you are thinking of setting up a live webcam.

Unbelievable! The MPAA is marauding about the internet campaigning against piracy and they go pirate an open source OS!
MPAA gets a taste of its own medicine.

I work in the I.T. industry and I often tell people about the importance of regular backups. Unfortunately I never took my own advice and I lost my original blog that was filled with lots of amazing content don’t you know!
So I’m back to the start again and hopefully bigger and better blog entries.
