Sky Go Android App released It certainly has been a long time coming and even though it comes with strings, Sky's "Sky Go" app has finally been released for Android. Don't get too excited just yet though. Sky Go will only work on supported Android devices running 2.2x and 2.3x. Not only that but to "ensure that our rights contracts are fully upheld we are also unable to support any Android devices...

Fixing the issue of the Asus Transformer TF101 not charging, SOLVED!Fixing the issue of the Asus Transformer TF101 not... I purchased an ASUS Transformer TF101 a few months ago and I have been very happy with it. That was until recently. When I plugged it in it would no longer charge. I read on multiple forums that this was a common issue for Transformer owners and some fixes included putting the transformer plug into the freezer to cool it down and also to bend the pins slightly to try to...

Use Tasker to put your phone on silent when it is placed face down

Category : Tasker

As you can see from my previous posts I am currently having lots of fun with the Tasker app for Android. In this post I am going to show you how to automatically switch your phone to silent when you place it face down on your desk (or night stand)

1. In Tasker select New button and give your profile a name.

2. From the list of Contexts select State

3. From the State Menu select Orientation

4. From the Orientation Dropdown choose “Face Down” and click Done.

5. Now that the the context has been created we will need to create an action. This action will be triggered when the above Task is initialised.

6. Click the New button to set up an action and then on the following menu choose Audio

7. From the Audio action menu click on Silent Mode and set it to On from the drop down.

8. Now that you have created a profile that will switch off the audio when it is face down it is time for you to follow the same steps as above only this time you will choose “Face Up” and set the Audio Action to Silent Mode Off.

Once you’ve finished setting up these profiles hit Apply and try flipping your phone face down and then face up. You should see that the phone goes silent when face down and comes back to life when it is face up.

Obviously you can play with this configuration to not only set your phone to silent when your phone is face down but also to turn off your WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS too.

Automatically open media apps when you plug in your headphones using Tasker for Android

Category : Android, General, HTC, Tasker

In this post I will show you how to automatically start an application once your headset is plugged in.

1. Create a new profile and call it whatever you want.

2. For the First Context you will need to choose “State” and then select “Headset Plugged” and click Done on the Headset Plugged page.

3. Click on “New Task” then press App – Load App and select the App that you would like to use when your headset is plugged in.

4. Click Done and Apply and then your new Profile will automatically load your application when your headset is plugged in.

Set Up Auto Sync in Tasker

2

Category : Tasker

AutoSync on the Android is great for keeping you up to date but your Smartphone constantly syncing your mail et al is not so good for your battery. This Tasker profile is set up to try and conserve some of that precious battery power while also keeping you up-to-date. In this example I’ve set Takser to Auto Sync every 30 minutes each weekday. You can obviously play around with the settings to suit your needs.

1. Press New and create a context for Day

2. Select the days of the week that you want to apply this profile (in this case we will select Monday – Friday)

3. Click on the + button to add a Task and from here choose Net – Auto-Sync – On and press “Done” to save

4. For the next step click on the Calendar icon (first image below) on the bottom left and select Add. From here add a context menu for time and select the time that you want your sync to start from and how regularly you want to sync (in this case it will sync every 30 minutes) and press Done to save.

5. The last thing that we need to do for this Profile to work is to create an exit task that will turn Auto Sync off once it has finished syncing. To do this we will need to tap on the “Auto Sync – On” button add a task and follow the same steps from section 3 only this time we create an Auto Sync to Off instead of On. Go to Net – Auto Sync – Off and press Done to save.

Don’t forget to hit “Apply” when you are done to apply all your changes. That’s it, Auto Sync is set to sync every 30 minutes from Monday to Friday.

Tasker Menu

Category : Tasker

I’ve been using Tasker a lot since I downloaded it from the Android Market to varying degrees of success.

One of the most frustrating things about Tasker for me is trying to remember where each feature is. That is why I decided to outline the menu structure (to a degree) in this blog. So without further a due, here’s the Task menu for Tasker
